Cat food - wet vs dry

Everyone has their own opinion on whether they should feed their cat wet or dry food, and many of us choose the middle ground of offering them both. So what are the advantages of one over the other?

Understanding Feline Physiology

The first step to understanding what your cat needs from her food is to understand a little about her physiology and how her body works. Many people think that cats and online pet food companies in bddogs are very similar in their diet, but they are not - dogs are omnivores, which means they can digest both plant and animal proteins. Cats, on the other hand, are obligate carnivores, meaning they need muscle-based meats in their diet to get all the goodness to keep them healthy.

Another major element they need is called taurine and it is only found in animal muscle, not in any kind of plant material.

Carnivores also tend to have short digestive systems because they aren't designed to digest the solid cellulose found in plants, so if they eat this kind of material, it doesn't digest properly in their systems.

Dried food

For many cat owners, dry food is used as a supplement to wet food so that cats can eat a few bites when they want. As long as the cat eats wet food as a supplement, then it usually works. The problem arises if they won't eat wet food for two reasons. One problem is the water level and the other is the granule content.
