How to Leave Your Own Discord Server: A Step-by-Step Guide

Discord is a popular platform that allows you to create and join online communities, chat with friends, and enjoy various features and integrations. You can create your discord server for free and invite other users to join and participate. However, there might be situations where you want to leave your discord server, such as losing interest, having no time, or facing some issues. In this article, we will show you how to leave your own Discord server.

How to Leave Your Own Discord Server as the Owner

If you own the discord server, you have two options: transfer the ownership or delete the server.

Transfer the Ownership

If you want to leave your discord server but still want the server to continue existing, you can transfer the ownership to another user willing to take over. To transfer the ownership, follow these steps:

Open the discord app on your desktop or mobile device, and log in to your account.

Select the server that you want to leave from the left sidebar.

Click on the server name at the top left corner, and choose Server Settings from the drop-down menu.

In the Server Settings menu, click on Members from the left panel.

Find the user that you want to transfer the ownership to, and click on the three dots icon next to their name.

Choose Transfer Ownership from the pop-up menu.

Confirm your decision by clicking on Transfer Ownership again.

You will see a message that says, "You are no longer the owner of this server". Click on OK to close the message.

You will now be a regular server member, and the new owner will fully control the server. You can now leave the server by right-clicking on the server name and choosing Leave Server from the drop-down menu.

Delete the Server

If you want to leave your discord server and also want the server to cease existing, you can delete the server entirely. To delete the server, follow these steps:

Open the discord app on your desktop or mobile device, and log in to your account.

Select the server that you want to leave from the left sidebar.

Click on the server name at the top left corner, and choose Server Settings from the drop-down menu.

Click Delete Server from the left panel in the Server Settings menu.

Enter the server name to confirm your decision, and click Delete Server.

You will see a message that says, "This server has been deleted". Click on OK to close the message.

You will now be removed from the server, and the server will no longer exist on the Discord platform.

How to Leave Your Own Discord Server as a Member

If you are not the owner of the discord server but just a member, you can leave the server without any complications. To leave the server, follow these steps:

Open the discord app on your desktop or mobile device, and log in to your account.

Select the server that you want to leave from the left sidebar.

Right-click on the server name, and choose Leave Server from the drop-down menu.

Confirm your decision by clicking on Leave Server again.

You will now be removed from the server, and the server will continue to exist on the Discord platform.
